Dimitra Ioannou experiments with narrative or anti-narrative forms employing various media (writing, photography, publications). She is the author of the chapbook Electric Sarcasm (Ugly Duckling Presse, 2020) and the experimental novella Soy Sea (Futura, Athens, 2008). Her chapbooks Terminal Mimosa and The Mink List are forthcoming in 2023. Some of her poems will be translated into French in the summer issue 3023 of the poetic journal Nioques.
Her radio-play How Poems-Cities (a long poem in Greek for two voices) was specially commissioned by the Onassis Cultural Centre (2018) for the Radio_OCC series. Her poetry has been published in magazines such as Stillpoint, Stand, Splinter, MAI: Feminism & Visual Culture, DATABLEED, and Blackbox Manifold, among others. Her (video)poems and photos have been presented in exhibitions in Greece and/or in publications internationally. She has translated from English into Greek contemporary radical poets. She runs experimental writing workshops called “texτλab,” She is the editor of the literary and arts magazine A) GLIMPSE) OF) and is based in Athens.
Η Δήμητρα Ιωάννου πειραματίζεται με μορφές αφήγησης ή αντι-αφήγησης χρησιμοποιώντας διάφορα μέσα (γραφή, φωτογραφία, εκδόσεις). Είναι συγγραφέας του βιβλίου «Electric Sarcasm» που κυκλοφορεί από τον Αμερικανικό εκδοτικό οίκο Ugly Duckling Presse (2020) και της νουβέλας «Μια θάλασσα από σόγια» (Futura, 2008). Τα βιβλία της «Τερματική μιμόζα» και «The mink list» θα κυκλοφορήσουν το 2023. Ορισμένα ποιήματά της θα μεταφραστούν στα γαλλικά στο καλοκαιρινό τεύχος του περιοδικού Nioques.
Το έργο της «Πώς τα ποιήματα-πόλεις», ένα μεγάλο ποίημα για δύο πρόσωπα σε μουσική Στράτου Μπιχάκη, επιλέχθηκε για τη σειρά Radiophonics της Στέγης Ωνάση (2018). Γράφει ποίηση κυρίως στα αγγλικά. (Video)ποιήματα και φωτογραφίες της έχουν παρουσιαστεί σε εκθέσεις στην Ελλάδα ή περιοδικά του εξωτερικού. Μεταφράζει σύγχρονη ριζοσπαστική ποίηση από τα αγγλικά στα ελληνικά. Εισηγείται τα εργαστήρια πειραματικής γραφής «texτλab». Εκδίδει και επιμελείται το λογοτεχνικό και εικαστικό περιοδικό A) GLIMPSE) OF). Ζει στην Αθήνα.
